What do you think the Bootheel of Missouri has to offer? Whatever you're expecting, there are surprises in store for you in the six southeastern most counties of Missouri.

For a weekend getaway or longer stay; consider that in this area you can explore large hardwood swamps, visit numerous museums interpreting the Native Americans who once lived here; through countryside that ranges from Ozark forests and hills to cotton fields and bayou-like lowlands; drive along the banks of the Mississippi River; and see where a massive earthquake changed the face of the land in the early 1800's.

The Bootheel counties offer a paradise to nature lovers, including many opportunities for wildlife watching in refuges, conservation areas and river access points. Hunting and fishing are two of the most popular activities in the area.

Southern Hospitality abounds in the Bootheel with many restaurants, motels and shopping opportunities accessible from the major thoroughfares of Interstate 55, 57, 155, and U.S. Highway 60. For more fun visit a winery, try your luck at a riverboat casino, ride a toll ferry across the Mississippi River and let the children have fun at a hands-on discovery museum. Don't miss such local specialties as fried catfish, barbecue and throwed rolls. We invite you to discover Missouri's Bountiful Bootheel.
