Explanation of Affordable Care Act and Small Business Seminar Planned August 30

With the passage of the Affordable Care Act, many people have insurance for the first time. But that opportunity comes with questions on how small businesses are affected by it. A seminar sponsored by University of Missouri Extension's Health Insurance Education Initiative with support from the Missouri Foundation for Health will help explain to small business owners the facts of the law and how it impacts their business.

The class will be held on Wednesday, August 30 at 1:00PM at the Sikeston Public Library on 121 W. North Street, Sikeston, MO. The session will be led by Richard Proffer, area small business development specialist for MU Extension. There is no registration fee for this event.

Topics covered in the class include shared responsibility rules for employers, tax credits, the Missouri Marketplace and SHOP and tools to help learn more about the law.

To register, call the MU Extension Cape Girardeau County office at 573-243-3581. A minimum registration of four is required for this class to be held.

SBTDC/Extension business programs are sponsored by the Small Business Administration and the University of Missouri. They are open to all Missouri residents. Consideration for special accommodations is taken, if requested, two weeks in advance of the class by calling Richard Proffer at 573-243-3581
